ACT-SO Committee
Dr. Keitha Burnett, Chair

Dr. Keitha Burnett

ACT-SO is a year-long enrichment program designed to recruit, stimulate, improve and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students. ACT-SO is an acronym for Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics.

If you’re a high school student who excels academically in science, math, or engineering (STEM), the humanities, in the performing arts, the culinary arts, or in business — or if you’re the mentor to such a student — WE WANT TO MEET WITH YOU.  Sign up to get further information!

Selected students who are chosen by competition will be invited to travel with us to the NAACP National Convention in the Summer of 2021 to compete against their peers, nationally!  We will fundraise, along with the student and their parents/guardians, to make this highly educational trip and opportunity possible.

Dr. Burnett is also the Youth Council mentor.  ACT-SO and Youth Council are sponsoring a Zoom event on community gardens, “Reclaiming our Roots,” on September 20th.  Click here or go to our EVENTS page for additional information.
