Citizenship and Voter Registration Drive

Do you know someone who may be eligible for U.S. citizenship? There are over 300,000 U.S. permanent residents in South Florida who are eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship. If someone has been a U.S. permanent resident for at least 5 years or married to a U.S. citizen for 3 years, they can apply immediately for U.S. naturalization. For those with some economic hardship, they may also be eligible to apply for a waiver of the application fee.

There will be free assistance by experienced lawyers and immigration professionals in preparing citizenship applications, on Saturday, August 10, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Church of the Ascension, 11201 SW 160th Street, Miami, FL 33157. The South Dade Branch of the NAACP is a co-sponsor of this event and will have staff on hand to help register voters, as well as to help them request new cards, update addresses, and request Vote By Mail ballots.
